Oral critique viewing other's artwork.
For the first check of the semester I ended up with an average of 2.7, and the following are the scores of the respective areas: 1.Creating original artwork: 3; 2.Developing art making skills: 3; 3.communicate through artwork: 3; 4.Take risks: 2.5; 5.Collaborate community: 2; 6.Solve problems: 2.5; 7.Reflect: 3; 8.Global awareness of art making: 3; 9.Observe: 3.5; 10.Plan: 2; 11.Research: 2.5. I'm going to focus on improving my collaboration with others by talking to more artists in my community, and I'll also try to improve on my risk taking by drawing in different mediums and drawing outside my comfort zone.
We had a TASK party awhile back, it is used to show how other people's artwork can be used to make something new, whether it is added on to or completely destroyed and something is made from its pieces. I ended up completing 18 tasks, very poorly made but I was trying to accomplish as many tasks as I could in the time provided. Click the button below to be taken to the pictures.
My very poorly made video critique over my less than started still-life sketch.
The artwork I am making will show the elements Form, Texture, Value, Color, and Line. The artwork I am making will also show the principles Pattern, Emphasis, Balance, Unity, and Movement. The form of my face will be showing movement and I will be focusing on the texture of my hair by emphasizing the lighter spots.
While looking through artwork by many various artists for an art project I am working on for my drawing class, I came across an artist by the name of Lex Wilson. His artwork has shown me how fine details and color choice can make an artwork very complex. Although his artwork is in a different media then the stuff we do in drawing class I still find that that multiple personalities depicted in his piece "Are You Happy" very similar to the seven different heads I am drawing with each having a different expression. I emailed Lex on Wednesday (1-27-16) to see if I could display his artwork on my website and he replied the next day saying that it was no problem. He did not request payment but did ask me if I could add a link to his website so if you could check out his Facebook page or website that would be fantastic, he is an amazing artist with new artwork coming out all the time. I've left buttons below leading to his website and Facebook page.
These are my value scales, the first one I did was graphite pencil the most basic of all drawing tools. The next one I did was the color pencil a colorful version of the graphite pencil. After that is the pen not really a artistic tool but more of a seal your fate in ink. Then came charcoal just a dusty pencil. Pastel: wet chalk. water color pencil was just a less effective version of the color pencil. And last but not least the marker a kinder-gardener's dream weapon.
Bill Watterson is one of my most favorite artists ever! I was introduced to his work back when I was in 4th grade reading Calvin and Hobbes. His work has inspired me to work towards better things and not to give up after small problems arise. Although Calvin and Hobbes may have ended he has not stopped as an artist and continued in a career in painting and has since gone into history (at least my history) as being one of the greatest artists of all time. Although I have not contacted Watterson I have still displayed art of his below and because of this I will have Buttons leading to his website.
